The Distributed Archive
The idea for this archive began with a loss. I vividly remember a factory move during my childhood where hundreds of invaluable knitwear samples were accidentally lost. Entire chapters of our history were gone in an instant. That moment taught me that if you leave history on a shelf, it is fragile. It can disappear. That is why we chose Black Friday to open the archive.
While the world focuses on overconsumption and manufacturing the new, we are looking back at what was already created. Instead of letting these pieces gather dust, we hope they can find a life - and bring joy - to someone on the outside. This collection consists largely of salesman samples and prototypes. This means they are very rare. In most cases, we have only one single piece to share. As they were created as industry standards, most are size medium.
The Distributed Archive is our answer to preservation. By releasing these unique pieces into the world, we are asking you to become a custodian of this history.
