The local blanket project
This project shares the exact same spirit as our archival work. It is about seeing value where others see waste. When we manufacture our sweaters, there are always leftovers. These cones of high-quality yarn are too small in quantity to run a full production series, but too precious to discard. In a conventional factory, this is considered waste. To us, it is raw potential. We rely on our vintage German knitting machines from the 1960s and on the hands of Holger H. Skyt.
Born in 1946 and the son of our founder, Holger possesses the rare skill required to operate these heavy-gauge machines. He takes these "unusable" excess yarns and plies them together in high numbers. The result is a blanket of exceptional weight and character. By mixing multiple strands of leftover yarn, we achieve deep, complex color melanges and a heavy, protective feel that modern machines simply cannot replicate.
Due to the specific knitting technique, the blankets are highly elastic and adapt effortlessly to the body. We call them "woollen hugs." This campaign is the chance to give yourself a hug you won't regret.
